a little advice if you will...
im just curious on a few things really and not quite sure which to do ive done this myself never used clippers before or ever cut my hair myself and just curious as to what your alls opinions are on the front/sides i suppose im kind of stuck and dono how to style them =\

If i get you: It depends on your tastes for hawks but as a rule of thumb, start wide and tweak(remove more hair) it till the hawk is the width you like. Lamens terms: Start with a death hawk and slowly turn it into a mo.
Better safe than sorry.
Also try it with the side bits, you might like it and they're easily removed.
Also: Get help making the lines straight. Its an annoying and fiddly job solo.

right thats what ive been doing like i messed with it yesterday just decided to take some scissors and snip away then went out and bought clippers today and removed some more i have tons of hair so its a bit complicated plus the fact that ive never done it before so im just doing little bits here and there like you said better safe than sorry lol and the lines are pretty straight (better than in the pic) i just quickly put it back to give an idea of how it is but definitely thanks a lot for the reply :D im wanting to remove a bit more off the sides/front part just not sure how exactly to do that rather than just thinning them out a bit

Easiest way is to take the clippers and hack away at it. Maybe start around the ears and slowly remove more and more.
If you want the short but not skinned look then it'll be more fiddly and you'll want to put the high number clip's on the shaver. Again to be on the safe side, start with the highest clip/guard. As i always go for the shortest cut on the sides i don't know how long the biggest guard will leave your hair but maybe an inch.. or 2?
My rule for mohawks is: not much wider than the space between your eye brows. I did mine a little wider, got a friend to straighten the lines and just hacked all the sides off. Went perfectly. Wet razored the sides. Felt goooood.

I'm probably going to get flamed by the more hardcore punkers for saying this but I would suggest you see a professional about cutting your hair. Do as much as you can by yourself so as to give the person a good idea of what you want done and get them to clean it up a bit. Getting all the hair in the 'hawk the same length will be a real pain. One that's done though you can do allot by yourself such as altering the width of the 'hawk but some bits are just too tricky to do by yourself (unless your far better at cutting hair than me.)

right like i have it as wide as i want it just the front bit is what im having trouble with but will be doing something with the length i dont think a 20ish inch long hawk with my heavy hair would work out too well lol and ive thought about going to a pro about it but im just curious as to how well i can do it lol worse thatd happen is id end up having to get it cut a lot shorter than i wanted but hair grows lol and i definitely know the feeling about not cutting hair well lol it looked like someone shaved an alpaca in my bathroom lol but whatever i figure out and end up doing i shall let you all know thanks again for the posts :D

It would be wise to have a pro go at it to give you a base and i kinda did that, although not pro's my friends know how to use clippers and a girl friend likes to think she's great at cutting hair so i let her even mine out when i got tired of having it short at the back and longer toward the front.

If you go to someone, try to find someone that's in to the scene. Don't got to a Pro Cuts or whatever because they'll just hack away and not really give a shit. If they like cutting a hawk, they'll do it right.

yeah im definitely going to go i have the sides done how i want them i just need the length cut now and the person who normally does my hair anyways shes all into that stuff she has a small one herself heres how i have the sides as of now just did the rest tonight ive slowly been removing a little more here and there til it gets how i like it it was still a wee bit wet and not straightened in this pic but tis progress lol
