I doubt most of us are like that, just the extremists seem to overshadow the real heart of the religion with their insane prejudices and unnecessary radical beliefs, its a shame really.

I totally agree with you, speaking as a resident of the "buckle" of the Bible Belt (oklahoma). in my small town there are more churches than i can count on both of my hands. I get tired of being surrounded by all the lunatics here (believe me there are alot here), i kinda just withdrew from the church and i self practice. I cut out most of the bullshit that way lol
One point I would like to debate, Josh, though not to do with relgion directly, but about what we agree on to mean 'evidence' and 'theory'.

With respect, I have never heard of a 'theory' that could be tested for any of humanities gods & goddesses. And there is no concrete evidence, as far as I know, that links the beliefs and tenents to influence from matching gods or goddeses.

Some obvious evidence for a lot of the theory of evolution is in repeatable breeding, genetic manipulation experiments that follow predictions and from the fossil records. Even independent of a complete set of evidence to cover every aspect of how life evolves - there certainly is a large amount of evidence that matches a lot of reality and the theory of Evolution.

Obviously, I'm not suggesting we get into details because that's fruitless and would require experts.

But I claim that the two are not equal in evidence or comparible - they're apples and oranges. My reasoning above suggests that therefore Evolution has more weight than divine beings.

It doesn't exclude them, it might contradict the tennents set out in nearly every orthodox religion, but that's another argument than whether they have equal validity.

I cannot find reasoning to suggest they are equal because one has more supporting evidence than the other.

Plus, whereas we have (probably) thousands of different divine beings believed in; Evolution and other scientific theories are a lot more narrow in accepted variations.
lmao lol they sound funny.
