Parents and mohawks
Ok, so i got my mohawk last sunday, and since then whenever i wear it up, my mom looks at me like i'm scum. It's just fucking hair. I didn't go get a tattoo of FUCK YOU across my forehead, i don't come home high or drunk, its just fucking hair. She treats me like shit, and my dad and stepmom almost disowned me. How did you guys deal with getting a mohawk with conservative close minded parents? BTW i'm 16 and still in school, but going to job corps in the next months, so they don't even have to deal with me for much longer.

my dad threatened to kick me out if i got one and when i came home with mine he didnt talk to me for 3 days and then made fun of me for months on end.. now he loves it and he shaves my head for me sometimes. it takes close minded parents a long time to adjust and realize that its just hair, its YOUR hair, and that it makes no difference on who you are as a person. basically your gonna have to tuff it out and not let them get to you, eventually they will grow to accept it and maybe even love it like mine did :]

i come from amore conservative family but my mom doesnt care im not sure about my dad he didnt say anything when i got it im sure he doesnt like it lol he got mad when my brother pierced his ears lol.

my dad cut my first mohawk at home with a buzzer, and my mum didn't care, she gave me tips on how to stand it up.
ignore any negative comments or anything from them and go on like normal, they'll see standing your hair up in a straight line isn't all that bad.

at first my parents made me gut it off when i was 13 now i 17 almost 18 and they dont give a fuck my mom shaves the sides for me and my dad tells me colors just givem time to get use to it

My dad just laughed at me. He actually trims the sides for me every now and then. Usually its a trade, I give him a hair cut, he shaves my head haha.
My mom practically disowned me for 2 months. He ridicule about my hair got so bad the first time she saw it that I literally jumped out of her car. No one deserves to be called less than scum, worthless, a freak, embarrassed to be around, not acceptable to society(not that I was trying to be), not able to be "normal", unemployable, ect. And this was just from getting picked up from my house to the front of my neighborhood.
She started crying and yelling at me. She offered to get me extensions to "fix" my hair. This went on for about 2 hours after I exited her car.
And I left her with on message to chew on.
I told her that I was sorry that she couldn't love, and accept me for who I am. A hair cut hasn't changed who I am(personality), why should it change her?

yea my parents reaction wasnt as bad it took 3 yrs. for me to convince my dad to let me all i did was tell him i wont stop growing my hair out till i get one and hes in the army so it pissed him off lol as far as negative comments go just forget them it aint worth getting angry about it

I have to agree. I am doing what i want to do, and i love my hawk and my style. I'm jsut trying to get used to my parents. But it is my life and i'm not letting them control me or change me, just want things to go smoother.
