Thinkin' about rocking the hawk
Hey, so I've been lurking for a month or so and finally decided to join. So I'm new. Haha. Anyways, I absolutely love mohawks and I'm considering getting one for my own. I'd most likely get a thicker chelsea hawk.
It's great. I feel like my individuality has been destroyed and I want to do something more exciting (so why not hair, right?). I've been fairly familiar with the SLC punk and ska scene for a couple of years now--so just a wee bit of background because mohawks have so many personalities.
It's kinda a big step for ladies, but hopefully my hair is long enough to donate to locks of love if I do rock one. So I'm just wanting to hear some opinions.
Also, there's just a few things I'm curious about.
1) What are the different ways I could wear it down? I know there's a pony, side swept, and slicked. I have curly hair so that's also a factor in wearing it. What about dressy styles?
2) Face shape. I have a heart shaped face, does it work?
3) I'm a ballerina, are buns do-able with enough pins?
4) What do you think about chicks with mohawks?

fuck, grow a pair get some self-confidience, and do what the fuck you want. You shouldn't need self assurance from others. There are are so many different ways to do your hawk. get creative, google pictures. only ask questions after you can't figure it out yourself. damn. the laziness of people these days. fuck.

Okay, I totally understand what you mean. True statement.
There are millions of forums with the same EXACT question. Nothing is ever specified nor thought over though. I've done my fair share of research--like literally months. It's not a matter of being a "self confidence" issue although I admit I DO know alot of people just do this fishing for complements; which is really fucking lame. I'm cutting off over 10 inches of my hair which took forever to grow. It becomes a big decision (especially for girls) whether you realize it or not. It's not that I need assurance, but I'm genuinely curious. Why not ask from someone who has one. Right? I'm not going to be a fucking dumb-ass and shave it off without even thinking it over twice or just be a fucking dumb-ass like a majority of people who thoughtlessly ask this question.
I've decided everything--except whether to actually carry it out. It's not even worth contemplating anymore, but it's now confirmation which is why I decided to actually ASK from people with experience.

if it bothers you to read bout chicks asking whether or not they should cut their hair then dont open up a discussion called 'Thinkin' about rocking the hawk'. If people want to ask, let them.
I say do it, I had long hair too before I chopped it off. Hair always grows back too, so its nothing permanent. One thing my housemate mentioned to me is the beauty of going from long to short is trying different styles and lenghts inbetween. That could help you 'ease' into it. My housemate gave me a short hair cut before the hawk but that only lasted a few days since I really wanted a hawk.
All in all, go for it, I doubt you will regret it.

Go for it, mohawks look great on girls for sure! I agree with the short cu statement and notcompletey shaving the sides at first. If you really want it once you get some cut off you're going to want to jump right in, thats what happened with me! Take the leap you know it'll grow back haha change is good!

1 you can do diffrent things with it, i also have curly hair so i just put it up in a pony or two chinese buns.
2 my face is round and people love it on me, so it doesnt matter
3 buns are do a-able..thats the style i wear when i dont want to do anything with it lol
4 chicks are great with hawks..go for it..its a big step trust me, i'm mixed and i have a hawk..double weirdness
