Definitely can recommend Split Second as a great racer - once you get into the game. The handling on it feels a bit stuck-to-the-road at first, but once you get past a couple tracks, it's good.
It's very fresh, 'cause you get to trigger major events at points along the track to disable your opponents. These can explosions, helicopter attacks, splitting air-craft carriers and even crashing a jumbo jet into the track ahead to destroy all the cars near them! :O Great fun! :D Needs a good graphics card & PC though.
Need for Speed World Online was a disappointment after playing it for 10 days it was weak, not much to do, no manual, no car tuning. Just endless races on the same tracks to unlock one new - after leveling up 10 levels, this took ages! Not good. But you can test it for free anyway.
