thought id post a poem here that i haven't posted at gotpoetry.com hope folks enjoy. oh i spell things wrong so get used to it lol.

lovers

he put holes in his ears to hear the notes of zephyrs, follows the melody the winds melody down familiar cobblestone street onto beach front.

he paces the shore interpreting sand swirls and clustered shells, the language of waves. A scattering of shells reminds him of that night's constellations. he pulls a shell from mexico from his pocket, holds it to his ear, listens for a drowned lover's sigh. he has done so for three years now.

From the other end of town, another man walks down the same cobblestone. He seeks the early dawn red to remember a fiery love.

on the beach he rolls up up right sweatshirt sleeve revealing a phoenix under skin. Tattooed with a prayer for ressurection, but the bomb did not leave enough to piece together a whole. He wears the dog tags bound too tightly his left wrist.

as the two men pass each other, one coming, one going, they offer the same half nod greeting giving over 356 times now. They've seen one another at friends weddings, tasted each other in club corners, swapped advice on how to pick fresh fruit.

It is only in this light that they force eyes not to meet.
