Mohawks Rock

Okay, I want a mohawk but I don't know if I should have it done professionaly or do it myself. I don't have much money and it is rare for me to get money. I have never cut my hair or anyone else's. Do you have any tips or advice on how to do it? I'd like a step by step on how to do this or if I should evencut my own hair.

Well, if you are going to do it yourself you might want to have a friend help for the first time.
*Get scissors, a clipper, and some hair ties.
*Tie off the hair you want to keep for the mohawk. Put it up in tight little bun sections on your head so the hair is out of the way.
*Start by cutting the longer hair down with the scissors til you have about 2 inches, this will make using the clippers a lot easier .
*I am not sure how much you want to keep on the sides, if you are willing to go to the scalp, want a buzz, or would like to keep an inch or so all depends on your clipper setting and what attachment you have on it.
-If you have it set up so you can see what you are doing on your own then with your hair tied up it shouldnt be too hard to cut it yourself. If not, especially since this is the first time you are doing it, like I said, get a friend to help and that way they can make sure everything is even back there.
Simple as that. Voilà!
Hope this helped =)
Use a belt.

Push all your hair to one side of your head (let's say the left).

Put one end of the belt in your mouth, pull the belt in a line across your head and hold it behind your head, so that it makes a line along the right side of where your hawk is going to be.

Shave your right side of your head.

Repeat for the left.
Just remember that once you buzz it, the only way to get it back is to grow it out. I'd say chop a little at a time, then if you get chicken shit halfway, you just end up with some funky-ass layers. But go for it. :D
or start right near the middle, that way there's no going back. ;)
haha a "nohawk"? thats too much sexy to handle. xP
WHAT THEY SAID
My advice is definitely get a friend to help you, unless you've got a lot of experiencing cutting and styling your own hair already. But even if you do, buzzing it off is so different because once it's done, it's done. Hard to hide unless you want to wear a beanie until next fall.

It gets easy to trim yourself, and once you've got practice doing that you might be able to give yourself a mohawk in the future, but for now, use the buddy system!
Find out the hard way
Somebody can fuck it up just as easily as you can.
