Mohawks Rock

so i'm new to the site, but i have a question i feel others with mohawks will understand and be able to help me with. i've asked others, but no one really seems to know how to answer...
well, my sister is getting married next week, and obviously im going to her wedding. my hawk is about 8' and for my sisters sake, i feel i shouldnt put it up. thats a personal choice and not part of the question... the question is what exactly i should do to it. i want it to look nice, yet fancy enough, since it's not just ANY wedding, its my sisters.
any suggestions? all are welcome, im pretty open

Great Question!

I have been posed with this several times as well. The last wedding I went to in August, the bride even wanted the mohawk up. However I did not know her that well, her family or who would be in the congregation. I knew the groom very well, but he had moved after college.

For that reason, I ididn't think she knew what she was bargaining for so I decided to leave it down. My personal feeling is that a mohawk, especially a large one, garners a lot of attention. On someone's wedding day, the person who should receive most if not all of the attention is the couple - mostly the bride. Wearing a mohawk, especially if in the wedding itself, could distract and prove to be rude.

Of course, depending upon the size, the people and those getting married this could vary, but it sounds like you are talking about a traditional wedding, not full of motorcyclists and rock and roll stars.

That being said, I did go to this well too-up-to-do wedding held at Oheka Castle in New York, where the mohawk would have been frowned upon among the burgeious and multi-millinaires last year. I decided to go to one of the top punk rock/goth salons (100+ basic cut) in NYC the day before, to figure out how to cut/style my hair and yet keep my mohawk. Sadly, they had zero answer. There was nothing they could do that would not destroy the 'hawk. They loved it, but had not been posed with the question. In fact, the hairdresser trimmed it up for like an hour for free (although I tipped well) trying to figure something out.

The end result, actually was pretty good though, and hopefully your hair is long enough. Rather than pull the full pony tail straight back, pull it at a 45 degree angle or sideways to the natural back corner of your head and tie it off. It looks a bit more formal, especially with the right clothes, and a bit more devenaire.

As a female (presuming from the name) you may even be able to do some sort of floral/decorative arrangement to the side of your head where the hair pulls and counter-balance it on the off-side with something similar on your dress. Check it out, but the side pull may be your friend in the wedding for your sister.
got a picture?depending you could maybe do some pincurls or something of the sort and just flip it to the side, but without a picture it is hard to give advice.
I agree, a picture would be helpfull.
Maybe you could do something braided or have it in a bun. I usualy make some sort of combination between those when it has to look fancy.
