Mohawks Rock

If I weren't a punk rocker I would still be treated differently for being a woman. You men can agree with me I know you can. Men aren't supposed to be skinny they're supposed to be burger-eating muscleheads and women are supposed to starve themselves to stay rail thin. IT FUCKING DISGUSTS ME. VENT HERE.

Yeah, it does matter actually. I'm more prone to get fucked with on the southside of Corpus Christi because they see my stance as a punk rocker a direct threat to their consumerist conformist society, whereas, when I'm walking in the ghetto on the westside in the quare, It's all recognized as positive, cause the oppressed poor and even the immigrants know how the system is faulted and immoral.

First of all, you said America is equal? So with some thought, you can now see why we are having this little debate. I see chaos and anarchy on a daily basis.  At certain times of the day, there are only us.99 % are shit. We're the 1% who don't fit in, and don't care!------77 Told the Truth...

^They got it right in 1977 and it's still oh so true here in 2011.

You are one person. Your experience can't account for the rest of society.

And I never said that America was equal. Please quit making shit up. I said that from my point of view MEN and WOMEN are treated FAIRLY equal in America.

When you take my words and chop them up, they lose their value.
Only you can empower your own words the way in which you choose, you are doing the same to mine.
I do empower my own words, but you are deconstructing them and changing the meaning completely.
And I am trying to take your words and their meanings as closely as possible, sometimes even using direct quotations.

This is a discussion where we all share our different take on our experiences in OUR society.

For the most part men and women are treated equally in certain circumstances and environments. Discrimination is at an all time high in work environments...(the actual reason why I posted this)

I should know about this^ because my colleagues and I in college and fellow female and male employees are being segregated due to gender issues...

For example, 73% of Wal-Mart employees are female and not given the same promotions ad/or raises that their male constituents are receiving...

Check this out: Prime Time ABC:Covers the issue rather well :)

And I agree. You and I are not accurate example of an entire generalization.

And I know that discrimination based on gender does still happen. The thing you might be over looking is that it happens to men as well as women. Women might still be getting discriminated against more, but there is no real way of measuring it.

If there was a statistic for how often men pick up a women's dinner/drink tab then maybe your views might change. Or how many women vs men get to cut a long line based on appearance. It is not fair, but it is not fair on both sides. I think that job stats are easily measured, but in effort to keep things equal and fair regulations are set in place to help. I know certain stores have to meet quotas for men, women, and people of different races. Even this is not perfect, but it is a strong argument.

I do think that men and women are becoming more equal. In some aspects men have less rights then women, and in others women less then men.

So, apparently my intelligence is being questioned. I INTENTIONALLY wrote this general post in mind that you all would ellaborate. So you wanna see what I'm capable of writing when I put time into it? Alright, I'll bite...

Here's my take in the beginning and then a glimpse in the average middle-aged miserable American's mind.

                                                                               BINDING CHAINS

     Living and dying

Breathing and crying

You say all good things must come to an end

I don't want them to

I don't want to be another tool

slaving away for an un-named man

It's corruption

It's confinement

It's Condemning

Condemned to die in modern day slavery

Does anyone care?

No, they show no pity

I need to find another way

Something more that offers meager pay

The rich get richer and I get weaker...

I'm breaking my back

These binding chains won't give any slack

I tighten these every day from the mistakes I've made

Now it's too late to go back

Why did I listen to what everyone told me?

I regret so many opportunities I didn't take

now I'm fourty...

Why did I honk my carhorn at those kids on the street

They seemed so careless

So free...

I've made the same decisions my parents made

Now I'm as unhappy as a Heterosexual in a Gay Parade!

I've got two kids

Now they are fashioning their binding chains

One day they will grow up to feel my strain

They'll spend their days in front of the television screen

Compliment their wives on the same monotonous cuisine

They will live out the same pattern I have lived out

Day

after

Day

WORK EAT SLEEP FUCK

WORK EAT SLEEP FUCK

WORK EAT SLEEP FUCK

And no play in sunny days...

They will dig themselves a financial grave

and

Pray to the lord the government won't take their home away

Consuming more than the average bear

They make up the percentage of obese America and wonder why they stare...

They won't pay attention to the war overseas

They won't think of the innocent being put on their knees

Instead, they pick up the latest tabloid and gossip about the celebrities

"Oh my GAWD Michael Jackson is DEAD?!?!?"

But ehy won't shed a tear for the children he mislead...

These binding chains are choking me to death

I am in debt over my head

When I die, nothing good will be said

I was that rude woman in the shopping cart aisle

I didn't want to look up and give you a smile

Now I realise all I cared for will not go with me in death

I say this to you so you can save yourself while you have the chance...

You can rhyme, congratulations.

You should have rebuttled with your own poetry, that was just a juvenile jab. If you wanna debate, you're going to have to do better than that.
Bad poetry, oh no-etry.
