So, I believe that there is nothing wrong with doing your own, body modification, as long as its not to the extremes.  I am a " scratcher" and that merely because it cost me like 45 bucks to get a tattoo kit with all the ink and medical supplies, and ect. while at a tattoo parlor its a minimum of 50. No I'm not doing anything big or extravagant, I"ll leave that to the professionals, or my eyebrow piercing done with a safety pin ( clean) and it turned out great, and I did it for free, while at a shop it would have cost me 60 bucks, which is just ridiculous to me, but if I wanted to get my septum pierced I would probably rather go to a professional. But I do think its ridiculous to trash on those who do it at home.

The first tattoo I've done on my dad
I do some piercings at home like my septum and snake bites and smiley and stuff but eyebrow i would get that professionaly done....... Were does it cost 60 dollars for an eyebrow piercing though ??? its a standard piercing most ive ever seen a place charge is 60 bucks..... As for home tattoos go for it and if ya fuck up its your own fault so no one should judge you your the one whose going to have to live with it for the rest of your life ...
at spear me in carson city, NV it cost 60, and yah if I fuck it up I"m boned right my fault ect., but at the same time, I aint tryin to do no fuckin big shit, shit thats easily covered up, and idk I just dont think I should get shit for doing it for being a scratcher.
I think in the era of the Internet, there's no reason you can't do most piercings or some tattooing at home. I'm a big proponet of DIY stuff. I wouldn't go so far as to give myself s prince albert; that I'll leave to the pros, but I don't think piercing my lip is out of the question.
If you want to DIY, then do it. Just be smart and do your research first so you do it right.

I agree with you :) lol

and I am sterile as fuck and practiced for two months before I tattooed a real person

Depends on how well you want it to turn out, I would have no problem piercing my ears or nose myself but stuff like snakebites needs to be equal length apart so I'd pay to get them done, but I don't have £40 handy so I just won't get them done. the only piercings I got atm are in my ears and I got them done proffessionaly because It was a stretching experiment with 2 ontop of each other that i hadn't seen done before so I wanted them to look at whether they though it was possible. turned out fine but it definitely wouldn't have if I did it myself.

Wouldn't let anyone but a professional near my body for any modification. My nose piercing cost me less then $30 and at the shop I went to most of the piercings where around that price.. These people have put their time and effort into being trained to safely do body mods and in the case of tattoo artists, years of training and practice for a good artist. Unless they are trying to rape you with their prices there is no reason their career shouldn't be supported.
I agree with that as well, like I planned on getting my eyebrow proffessinal then thier all 60 bucks and I said fuck that, I thought it would be like 30, which is reasonable, maybe its just my area........ Plus I plan on being a professional tattoo artist some day, and I respect those guys a shit ton. DO I agree with their prices.....eh some of them....but alot of it can get ridiculous..
You always have to consider that not only are they charging you for the equipment they use but also their time, effort, and talent. Time is money, they can't make a living off of giving free tattoos. Its unfortunate that it's so expensive but its usually a small price to pay for a wicked piece of art you get to wear for the rest of your life. (just another reason a good artist and a meanful design should be important when getting inked)

While it is certainly possible to do tattoos and piercings on your own, it is also usually a better idea to go somewhere else. My husband is a body piercer and one of the key elements to piercings is placement. People tend to just not give a fuck and say well "it's near my eyebrow, so it's an eyebrow piercing!" but it's really not that simple. Before I met him, I had my eyebrow pierced for free by an apprentice I knew at a shop, and while it didn't look awful, it didn't look great either. I had my husband re-do it and it looks far better. There are minute angles and degrees to placement, not to mention the issue of depth. Nothing looks worse than a piercing that is far too deep, or one that is so shallow it's rejecting. It takes around a year and a half for an apprentice to really get this down well.

As for tattooing... You're starting out right. At this point you may want to look into paying for an apprenticeship if you're looking to get into that field. The way the laws have been changing here, I know that tattoo artists who do parties and tattoo at home are being fined and are losing customers quickly. It's hard to find a tattoo artist who really knows what they're doing. It's far easier to find one who runs too lightly (Touchups every three months suck), as well as one who runs too deep. Not to mention it's always nice to find a tattoo artist who can actually draw and isn't just going to slap some flash on you. Nothing says forever like seeing the same identical tattoo on six other people in your town.

I"m not trying to argue that proffessionals are a bad thing, But I"ve never done anythign proffessional, and I"m perfectly content.... I mean anything that means alot to me fuck yah its gonna be proffessional, and for me to be an apprentice ship cost hella money......idk My main point being, it should be....."horrible" to do it yourself...
