its better to start it short cause as it grows out youll already be used to spiking a larger mohawk by the time you even realize its massive. 

buuuuut once its about 4 inches or so then it starts to get a little annoying to spike it all the time. i think its a little longer then your fingers then thats the perfect length. sorta how my profile picture is, that was the perfect length to me honestly. now it stands about a foot and half tall

and i never spike it now due to it being so massive , but i am about to cut it down finally

Yeah I'm used to spiking it cause I have a stupid faux hawk and I spike it when I go out so now I'm trying to grow it out to get a real mohawk again
