Mohawks Rock

My family was alright - everyone pretty much takes their cue from my mum and it was her that first cut my 'hawk. My workmates know, they ask me what colour it's been this weekend as when I work it's always down and blonde.

kids love crazy bright hair. :P

hah in france people walked by me and went "eurgh" then people took pictures and occasionally stalked me. here in england though i get chatted up by 40 year olds and most people think im cool or hard. i love having a mohawk :) my hair dont get stuck to my ligloss nomore :) xx

I do get a lot of looks, especially while driving. I could never run the to 5-0 with my hair. It'd be, "Just look for the chick with an orange mohawk!" Even have had some people stare and point... I'd love to tell them to take a photo, it' will last longer.

My mother isn't too fond of it. She feels is a "man's" haircut. My dad has grown to accept it. The other day at school a client said to me, "That's a crazy hairstyle!" I knew it wasn't a compliment. Most of my personal clientele doesn't say much about it or is inquisitive about it and mean no harm.

reactions vary i think, i get alot of attention from the older "original" punks from around carlisle saying its nice to see it still going specially as a girl, when it comes to chavs n neds its always WOAAAH WTF HER HAIR!!!1111111one!!! n the odd laugh. I think people find me more approchable as a girl to come over n ask me about it.
Most of the people in my school like it, which is surprising considering I live in a small cookie-cutter town. But a lot of adults hate it.

reactions:

lesbian

trying too hard to be a man

attention whore

freak/weirdo

that im immature and that i need to grow up

you've got some balls to shave your head!

hot/sexy/*drool*

"how many guys do you know who think a girl with a mohawk is hot?"

*stares*

"im sorry, but are you a man?" (apparently they didn't see my MASSIVE titties)

mostly negative, or stupid/thoughtless.

dating guys are difficult, mostly because i run into tools who think all women should have long hair.

Its like every guy i manage to run into has this thought in their head that says "you are so awesome and pretty, but if you could just change your hair and dress more feminine... you'd be perfect"

and then i realize that these guys are trying to change me, and i get offended. Then they say some stupid shit like "well its just hair/clothes" No you asshole, My hair and my clothes are apart of who i am, I express myself through my appearance and the fact that you want to take that away or change that makes me want to vomit all over your face.

BLAAAAARRGHGAHGHGHGH *projectile vomits everywhere*

man i wish i could just throw up on command, that would fix a lot of problems in my life. :)

I'm a younger mom, always been fascinated with "alternative" looks mohawks, piercings, tattoos, ect. I work in healthcare in a relatively small town, so people are fairly judgment outside their "norm". My ex-husband and I have decided to let our four year old daughter about to turn five and go to school, rock the Mohawk shes been begging for for two months. Any words of advice or encouragement for her or I? She is so excited and doesn't care what anyone thinks, she loves it, we don't necessarily care what others think, we just don't want her to be hurt and isolated by the intolerance and judgmental kids, or adults for that matter. The boys of course, love the idea.....but the girls already think she is "wierd". I dont like the labels or the fact that people judge us as parents or her as child, her behavior, intelligence, or social abilities, all based on the way she combs and cuts her hair?!!!?! How ridiculous is that?! BUT as of sunday she is rocking the hawk anyway.....

My Mom thinks its great to stand out and be an individual so having my mohawk makes me do this but my dad is so close-minded and thinks its stupid but what does he know right? My brother just hates that i stand out as he gets bullied for it he wants me to be the 'normal'. Everyone else in my family thinks its great and always feel the need to touch it. Most people around where i live just shout abuse at me but that just don't get it. I've been excluded from school from having my mohawk and put on report apparently its too aggressive. People ask me if i'm a bloke i just reply with 'both' and leave them standing there looking like the idiot. Other than the few retards people think its cool, crazy, weird, colourful etc.

At first, my dad gave me a bunch of shit about it, and I've gotten a fair share of strange looks. But what astounds me most is the majority of people who compliment me on my hair  are older women, I even got a teacher once who said she doesn't like that look on any of the students she's seen, but she liked it on me.

People are rude about mine. My family was alright though it was a surprise. I had a little girl like 6 years old turn to her mom and say "mommy that girl looks really weird" and i have also gotten made fun of plenty of times and called a freak when people drive by. but i dont care i like my mohawk

some people make snidey comments, i get 'you should be bi/lesbian, you would be a good one' but most people ask me questions and say its awesome
