Mohawks Rock

I'm sure if this group grows, there will be more involved threads. So..
Let's start with introductions.

We know each other, sure, but we don't always know what one another are up to.
Who are you, what do you want to be, and what do you go to school for? *and anything else you can think of.

Hey, way to go! haha

If it makes you feel better, I get the weirdest looks and accusations telling people I'm on the deans list. haha
Wow am I the oldest one who's going to try this out?! Oi. I'm Heather, 27 yrs old living with my 'rents because the shite military town we live next to wants $800 plus for a cardboard box and my Jeep takes up half my paycheck ... with my horrible spending binges on three seperate credit cards taking up the other half and then some ... --- hmm... maybe I should have started out on a more positive note, eh?!

I currently work as the Head Night Auditor at a Marriott hotel in Killeen, Texas. I helped open the hotel in 2005 and know my job inside and out I could probably do it in my sleep ... and sometimes I have nightmares about doing just that! Anyway. I have my Assocites in Arts -- TV and Radio Broadcasting... haven't done much with it yet but hope to work in the indie scene at some point. I do NOT want to be in front of the camera but working production is much more my style. I'd love to work for Disney making silly little cartoons because I do stupid little voices that usually either make people laugh or really creep people out! :}

I live next to Fort Hood which is the biggest Army base in the US. So yeah, lots of soldiers ... my father's retired Army so we've been stuck in the area for the last 15 yrs ... still DO NOT call me a Texas... I don't have an accent and I don't like cowboy hats or even country music ... so sod off with that. You really can't catagorize me really cause I just seem to blend in where ever I'm at ... but I dig the punk scene. Have for a really long time but the 'rents aren't so big into the mohawks, tattoos and piercings ... and since the area I live has NO punks it's just up to me to keep the scene alive ... oi, what a fuck all kind of job!!

Oh and I tend to talk a little funny ;)
I know how you feel about the military base thing and living in a state where you don't consider it home.
I'm on the new london sub base right now, 10 years too long. Connecticut is just another shit hole, haha.

Ever thought about hitting up a college radio station and airing a regular segment for punk music? I've got a friend out here who does that and it's pretty sweet.
i'm hex....i'd ideally like to do nothing and get a large paycheck everyweek. i went to school for fashion merchandising (not design...i wanted to be a buyer). i graduated with a b.s. in 2002 from the university of memphis, one of the most ghetto colleges ever. after graduation it became very apparent that i wasn't going to find work in memphis in my field, so i ended up getting into doing payroll and from there accounting and bookkeeping. i currently am half owner in an accounting firm in memphis. on one hand, i have the most punk rock job of anyone i know...i literally fight the government everyday for the small business owner. however, i hate having to fit into office culture-looking and speaking like anyone else in the mainstream. if most of my clients found out i was a non-god believin', homo accepting, police hating punk, they wouldn't bring me their business. so even to have a job that lets me fight the irs,i still gotta sell out...or buy in...not that it matters much around here. memphis is a pretty awful city if you arent' into garage rock (which no one really is, that's just what most of the local bands that get to play around here sound like...it's really just background noise for the hipster scums while they are getting shitty drunk and talking about each other. the bar circuit around here is pretty much like highschool since the city is so small.) the other thing we've got is a very big rap scene...but i dont know anything about that because a lone white girl going to the venues where that scene is thriving simply isn't safe.
I'm Ashley even though I think my profile says Sam (its a nickname). I live in California and I'm about to graduate high school and go to community college to get my general education then transfer to a four year university. My goal is to become a therapist and help the wives, parents children, etc of alcoholics and addicts. Helping people is kind of my thing and being the child of two alcoholics and all the shit I've seen I could actually get what my clients are talking about. Currently I'm working on a speech that I hopefully will be allowed to read at graduation and it's all about doing what makes you happy and what you want not necessarily what your parents and teachers want... idk maybe I could post it on here and get some feedback?
Hello,
My name is Andrea. I'm currently a student at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville working on a double major and double minor. My majors are Preveterinary Medicine with a Minor in Biology and Special Education for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, with a minor in Educational Interpretation. I'd like to graduate from undergrad and get my interpreting licence and, hopefully, get accepted in UTK's Veterinary Teaching Program. Perhaps while working on my graduate degree I can get a job as an interpreter near-by. I currently work for the school news paper and as a student assistant at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital on the UT campus. I'd like to specialize in large animal once I graduate from graduate school.
I'm currently living with my boyfriend for the moment, and my two snakes, wouldn't mind a tarantula and possibly a rat (I can't get away with larger animals atm because of apartment regulations -_-). My boyfriend is wonderful and a 4.0 college student who just got accepted as a trasfer student to UT.... Kinda bugs me I'm living with someone smarter than me, haha.
Well, not sure what else to tell you at the moment,...
Cheers
Good luck interpreting! I'm an interpreter in Michigan, and the state has fucked it all up to hell.
Just got into University with four Bs at A level (:
Start in three weeks, and I'll be starting a Masters in Town Planning. Just wish I could be there already though :/

Been at a local (ish) grammar school for seven years, but I'm glad that's come to an end now. It's just time to leave, you know? I studied Art, Graphics, Film Studies and General Studies at A-level and like I said got four Bs. I needed three Bs to get into the University of Manchester but they don't accept General Studies because it's so silly and full of common sense.
It's going to be fun because lots of my friends are going to the same University, but at the same time it'll be difficult because my recent ex is going too. I split with him, but then we agreed to try again in September but now he has a new gf D:
So yeah, that's my situation at the moment. Freshers will be awesome!
Guess I should post here.. Hi. I'm Kiki. I'm currently in the middle of trying to drop out of the SLS (sign language studies) program at Madonna University. I am changing majors from ASL (American Sign Language) to Creative Writing at Naropa University in Colorado. Umm... I'm changing majors because I already work as an interpreter and the school is trying to make me take basic language courses in it because they're "required." After I get my bachelor's in writing I plan to work on a master's degree in either Cultural and Literary Studies or Anthropology, basically I just want to focus on mythology and the like.

Like I said, I currently work as an interpreter in Michigan... which sucks all around. They're changing all of the laws out here to promote "equality" and putting half of the interpreters here out of work. The board isn't even going to accept the national certificate program that has been around since the dark ages (with new testing just established a few years ago). I got into interpreting because it's my first language, and now I desperately want to get out of it. Ultimately I want to be a published writer.. I read 20 or more books a month; I average a book a day, give or take, and I am told often that I should get a degree in literature.

As for the punk scene here... It's non-existent. I don't know anybody who has a mohawk; I just cut mine a few days ago, and get stared at everywhere...
yo, the name's jack. Just about to start a degree in forensic and analytical chemistry, after finishing high school with pretty poor results, at flinders uni, adelaide (i live in australia). Currently working a deadbeat job in a petrol station to raise some cash and selling some shit on the side. Studying chemistry cause whilst overall school didn't really do it for me, i always found chemistry interesting.

As for where i currently live, darwin, northern territory (look it up) i'm the only one around with a mohawk so i can some funny looks but most people either don't care or just like to joke with me about it. No punk scene to speak so i spend most of my time with the local metalheads. I suppose i could be called a punk but i'm just some guy with funny taste in hair, bad taste in clothes, a fast loud taste in music and a drug habit.

But anyway, uni here i come, got no idea if i even want to have a career in chemistry but i just want to learn about it
Hey I'm Rachel, I live in Texas and I've dated and broken up with the only even slightly punk person I know. I go to UNT (University of North Texas) and I plan to major in anthropology and psychology. I have no idea exactly what I wanna do, maybe become a therapist or a life coach or something, as long as I feel like I made things a little better at the end of the day. I basically just want to travel the world and see everything, but thats not really a job lol. I love Rocky Horror, Repo!, pin up/rockabilly, almost every genre of rock there is, writing, acting, and people. I'm really ready to have a job again and start living a fucking badass life (im doing as badass as i can manage right now with no money lol). Anyways, glad I found this site, good to see punk still alive and thriving and hoping to make some like-minded friends so hit me up!
I'm starting Grade 12 in about 2 weeks, and I'm hoping to move on to University to get a degree in Teaching, and then hopefully, work into becoming a highschool counselor, so I can help students who have been troubled and stuck in between a rock and a hardplace for lack of a better term. I've always found human psychology a mind fuck, so I want to learn more about it and hopefully get a better understanding of it. But, for the most part, I just want to help some kids who don't know where else to look, and try to show them how to walk outside of the herd.
