Mohawks Rock

I'm really interested in why people dress the way they do, and what styles they have worn before, I'm wondering what styles have you worn and what kind of thing you wear now.

I started at 9yrs old wearing black and listening to Siouxsie and The Banshees and the Sex Pistols, then I turned into a Chav for what turned out to be the worst year of my life, then back to Goth, then Emo when it started again, Scene for a while (that annoyed the shit out of me), Grunge-y, Punk and Goth again. My self-discovery journey was a long and difficult one, just ending up in being the same to begin with.

What did you guys wear? and what do you wear now?

The first picture is me a couple of years ago (i think) as Emo
The second picture is me a year ago as Scene
The third is me now

At work: dress casual. Otherwise, jeans and boots. I'm getting into the grunge style, though.
well when i train i wear the most practical stuff, sneakers a muscle t and trackies
when im not training i wear what im most comfortable in, but i love chains studs jackets and boots, not to get an image or anything but because i love wearing them.....specially boots
I've always been in to punk fashion but I definitely don't limit myself to that. I try and mix it up...I don't like to spend a lot of money on clothes so all my clothes were either given to me by friends, made by myself, found in my grandma's basement, or purchased from thrift stores/vintage stores. I have clothes from every decade and style and I wear them all from pink prom dresses to polyester suits jackets. A lot of days I just wear chucks, jeans and a band tee-shirt or just a plain white tee. Lately I've been really into indie, punk, and rockabilly fashion though. Haha...Yesterday i wore a bright orange leotard a huge black tutu, leopard print tights and my combat boots (and of course i was sportin' the hawk). I'm known at my school as wearing very odd/unique fashions..no one questions me anymore (except for the occasionaly remark from bitchy faculty members who i tell to fuck off (getting detention is worth it)).
stoopid pples
in the years when I started having control over what I did I was a reflection of my influences...black clothing, lot of chains, combat boots, long hair...was very into black metal and gothic stuff as well as punk.

Then I did this thing when I was 19-20 of going 3 months dressing only liek a vampire haha. It was more an experiment than anything but it was fun to see peoples reactions....the look i settled on and was comfortable with and wear now gets nowhere near the reactions of some guy walking around in ruffled shirts, capes, and all that good stuff =p

Then I just stopped really caring and did what I admired from when I was a kid. In music class in 6th or 7th grade they had a very small section on punk in the text book and the image gripped me. I loved it ever since I was that age and finally when I was about 22 I just did it. As the recent years have gone by I got pretty disgruntled with the punk image...it had nothign to do with "normal" people hating it or anything....but other punks, and activists and anarchists who just dismissed me based on my look. They automatically put together that mohawk+patches+spikes= casualties fanboy = nobody who knows anything about life, anarchism, and is just a victim.

So for awhile I felt like just giving it up but I did not feel right about that because that is letting them dictate to me who I am and not me dictating for myself. So while a lot of kids in the punk scene are fashion victims and get completely exploited, and it increasingly becomes more about how you look than anything else, I decided I would counter this by keeping the look, but also working to smash that stereotype. And I have kept on with that...I have never been drunk, high, wasted on anything, can debate about anybody at the local shows under a table, and don't buy into the scene drama or fashion exploitation.

Do not get me wrong, I am a hypocrite as much as the next person but I do constantly evaluate why I should get something and it has not led me astray yet. Surely I will buy a patch or shirt form a band on tour and give them the money directly, but when it comes to things like spikes or belts or accessories....I am very critical on myself. There is a lot I chose not to get for this reason but also, there is some stuff that I do get sometimes such as more spikes for my vest....but like I said, I am by no means a patron saint, I am not perfect and am hypocritical as well. We have little choice in life right now...to use money only for your cause, business, etc and not waste some of it sometimes, is to live a very hard life. It can surely be done but I am not at that point yet =)
reading this was awesome..
i still dress like a bmx rider ever since i was nice. tight shirts, kinda tight pants, bmx gloves, Orchid shoes. never did like the skating scene though. it became a fad. lately "gangsters" are wearing little devil, and the shadow conspiracy shirts and clothes. i never thought id see the day where a supposedly badass gangster would wear tight pants. never laughed so hard in my god damn life.
When did you become 'nice'? :).
I agree with the tight gangetr look.
BTW, I'm into the ripped jeans and not fully laced Doc Marten boot look at the moment.
not nice haha i meant nine.
gangetr?
i hate tight clean jeans. ripped i like more than nice.
grease stained and tattered are my style of jeans.
haha where the hell you from? I'd throw up if I saw a thug walking around in Shadow Conspiracy clothing...especially if they can't ride! And I agree, skating just sucks!
Dude, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Why you laughin'? It's not that funny... unless he was wearing the baggy t-shirt still. So it looked like he had a big-ass body and tiny stick legs.
i own a pair of sneakers and 2 pairs of boots, one of which i can wear.
i also own like 3 shirts and 2 jackets
