Is my hair too thin for a mohawk

Okay. I've been shaving my head clean for a good few years now. It was really a preemptive measure since my hairline is receding. Mainly in that strange w shape on either side. No bald spot at the back.
But the top of my hair is getting pretty thin.

The question is whether I'd be able to grow one without it looking horrible?

The pics are after about a week of growth. I think I may know the answer after looking at the pics but let's hear what everyone else says.
