But are the 'new' Grinders as good as the old ones?

AFAIK, Docs have welted soles without screws - that's usually Rangers or other makes.

 

But from someone here who got some Grinders online they seem to have changed the materials of Grinders recently.  The soles on his were a different, more plastic look and the upper more stiff.  From what I could find out online, it may be only certain styles of Grinders that have changed in the last year to these newer materials.

 

Looks like you may have some good original Grinders which near everyone liked.  I'm hoping someone will prove that there are still models of Grinders made now to the standards from a year ago.  'Cause I never did get a pair and wanted some of the old ones. :'(

That'd be handy to see what the tread materials are like - did he get his in the last year or so?
