sewing pants

ok im going to attempt to sew my friends pants to make them tighter ive sewn my denim jacket before what i did was cut a triangle at the bottom then cut up and overlap it then sew it together(sorry if that doesnt make sense) but is it the same thing? if not how?

All I do to make my pants fit tighter is cut and sew up the seams. You should have your friend pin the pants to the tightness he wants them while wearing them. Then just cut the seams up the pant leg (I recommend cutting along the outside and not the inside because it always gets all fucked up in the crotch). Then sew them back together where he wanted them sewn in to. You're gonna need to take the pins out before you sew them, so just take a pen or something and make a line to follow as you sew. Then cut off all the extra denim that's hanging off past where you sewed it. You should turn the pants inside out before you sew them or else the seam and looks really fucking idiotic when you put them on...Unless that's the look you're going for which is usually what I do.
