I just cut two slits in it roughly 2 inches from both ends, going to the center "knot" in the hat.
If your going to do it, for sure just get a cheap stretchy hat so it will fit over your hawk right....
the first time i did it the hat didnt stretch big enough to fit over my spikes and wrecked it a bit at first...
but i got a real stretchy hat from the dollarama & its wicked :)
