I've heard of that site and checked it out before, but I've never purchased anything from them. Looks like the prices might be slightly on the high side for bolts of fabric... but then again they have fabric that I haven't seen at local craft shops either, so it's kind of a toss-up. According to their web site, a single order of fabric is 12" X 58", which is probably enough to trim out most jackets... unless you were going to cover an entire sleeve or something.
But I know what you mean... any site that appears to be heavily-funded and claims to be punk seems a bit suspicious. Heh. I guess in this case it might be worth the money just to avoid having to drive all over town looking at fabric in different stores. One-stop shopping is usually worth a few bucks more.
Hey man - thanks for the compliment! That leopard print is actually from a bolt of cloth that I got at a craft shop. I cut it to the right shape, glued it to the jacket and then sewed the edges using artificial sinew and a heavy-duty leather needle. The edges of the cloth are obscured by the folds of the jacket, so it doesn't look too crappy (luckily).
I've been putting them up for ages now, I use hairspray to get them into shape and then glue over the top to keep them there.
It just gets harder and harder as they get longer though, I have no idea how some of these guys get such awesome hawks, I guess they just have better hair then me!
Oh yeah, man. I definitely know that feeling. I had to shave mine down about 11 years ago for a job. It really sucked... especially since it takes so long to grow it out. But it's better to have some flow than be starving. Oi. Good luck with it!
i think either way is fine. it just depends on if you want to grow the whole thing back out or try to avoid shaving that spot at letting it grow to match the rest of your hawk. i would probably do the latter, but then again i dont really want to have to cut my hair short
