What FIVE things would you fockin love t'do right now
I'm making it FIVE so it's harder to choose
in no particular order, mine are:
1. Have banging, angry, loud sex that smashes up my room
2. Curb Gordon Brown
3. Sprout angel wings and just fly away
4. Turn the sun back on
5. Learn to wank AND write these things simultaneously WITHOUT all the mess and typos
I'd prefferably like to amalgomate all five of mine into one fun-filled activity aswell, that way i'd have four more options left over =] ..

Homosexuals are not 'so-readily accepted along with all minorities' (consider legal equality on issues such as inheritance, for example) and It's certainly not a belief system since it comes down to sexual drive for the same-sex. Otherwise, opposite-sex would also likely to be a belief system, and that is only likely in some individuals who are asexual.
But we digress - the point isn't about homosexuals - it's about how the word 'gay' now means 'bad' in common-day usage. It's the acceptable insult to use about anything - unlike other minority insults which are clearly not viewed as acceptable to most people now. Though not to all individuals of course.
I meant being non-PC by a section of the general public is now the new PC - not the government form. I agree with that point, political parties using PC to sway voters and I dislike that for it's blatent pandering to gain votes.
It's not about pressure to change your views, it's about respect with terms being used wrongly that don't mean anything to you, but damage others. There's no reason to use the recent conversion of the word 'gay' to mean 'bad', except to fit in with recent social trends.
This point was not a personal one, you just happened to use it at that point , but about the general devaluing principle behind the use of 'gay' to (wrongly) mean something 'bad'.

Yeah, the previous comment covered a lot of other points which we could spend a lot of tme debating without getting anywhere. =)
There's no point suffering typing more with sore joints - I think we both know where we stand on things. And that's something. I haven't really watched Family Guy - so I'm not sure on the references implied, I do like Futurama though. =) And yeah, we could go into a whole debate there on what comes up in general TV comedies.
I don't need the response or lack of it would be more of a downer atm. I just need to achieve some of my top 5 in real-life sometime again! XD

I use "gay" and "retarded" incessantly when I speak aloud and have worked with disabled children and have...just oodles of gay and lesbian friends.
Will everyone please cease taking themselves so seriously!?

It's not about taking things seriously - it's about how views are formed of others and how folk cope with building up their self-esteem, in a culture where every reference to 'bad' is now doubled up to mean 'gay'.
Think about those that are still young, insecure about their position in life. Those are the ones affected more so - an invisible minority that get bombarded by insensitive remarks that classify anything to do with what they are coming to terms with as 'bad'.
Please think about the point rather than just saying what you do and get away with others - because that doesn't answer or justify the effects on everyone. These terms used widely devalue groups. That's why racist terms aren't acceptable these days either - just because someone uses them doesn't justify the general degrading effects of a term or dismiss the power the words can have.
And I hope no-one throws in the old chestnut of PC - it ain't about that either.
At some point you have to push principles higher - rather than just dismissing things as unimportant.
