Advanced Mohawk Syling Questions!
Hi everyone I've got a few questions as a girl who's rocked a mohawk for 3 years now. I've been pretty happy with my regular 5 inch spiked fan mohawk but I'm trying for something a bit more adult and feminine as I enter into my 20's. I still want to keep the sides of my head shaved, however, I rarely enjoy pulling my hair into somewhat awkward looking spikes. It looks fine I suppose but I admit my current hairstyle could look better. I was searching around and I finally found a great reference for what I wanted so I went out and handed my stylist the picture and she cut it appropriately. However, I have no idea how to style and mold my mohawk into this softer fluffier objective of a hairstyle. So I was wondering if anyone out there would know the techniques and products I need to use to get my dream mohawk, I provided a picture with my post. Thanks in advance~

Heck of a lot of back coming, and hair spraying. and it really helps if you already have curly hair. I just use aqua net and kinda let it fall about and I get that look. Also, its pretty much a deathhawk, you might look that up. Looks like the same technique.

Remind me to take a picture right after I put my hawk up with aquanet and before I touch it up with got 2 b. Its like a lame version of this.I think I might try to make it good one of these days...

Sorry for the late reply! I tried some of the techniques a few of you suggested, mainly the teasing and backcombing. I had an extremely difficult time keeping everything up and in place with the backcombing and hairspray. Even then I couldn't get the definition I wanted and my hair kept flopping over with little avail. I tried to look up the technique used for a deathhawk but I couldn't find any directions past the obvious answer of teasing and backcombing. Any ideas on how to make this haircut happen? Thanks!

it doesnt look teased at all to me in the picture.. maybe a little at the base to help it stand better but i think the best way to get that look is to put it up like it was a regualr fan hawk and then brush it out really well... the biggest factor is going to be finding the right product.. you would need something strong that wont clump or flake..
