The Beastie Boys picked there names because it has the same initials as there favorite band.

almost positive they picked there names due to Bad Brains. i remember watching an interview with the beastie boys. they didn't form because of the bad brains, and they played with a different band name. but form what i understand they changed there name to match the initials of bad brains.
