Mohawks Rock

I previously wrote this for another site.  Quick cut n paste:

You'll need a boot brush, a yellow cloth, a blowdrier and some wax. Beeswax is good but I like Nikwax. It has to be solid wax from a flat tin; no spray cans!  If your boots are patent or of a light shade then the wax MUST BE SILICON-FREE.

-Clean your boots thoroughly.
-Using the yellow cloth, rub wax all over the bottom half of the upper in small circles until it fades in.
-Still with the yellow cloth, rub a thick splodge of wax into all the stitching lines so that there's a thick line of wax on the surface. Go particularly heavy on the area around the yellow stitching.
-Blowdry the boot until the wax melts. Be sure the blowdrier is on a medium setting. Don't turn it up all the way or you'll harm the leather.
-Leave overnight.
-In the morning, the wax will have settled around the joins. Blowdry it again.
-When wax dries, buff off the excess with light use of boot brush.
-Blowdry to seal.

Done. It isn't perfect, but it'll keep the weather out nicely.

Thanks for this!
I am definitely going to try this!
I've done this on my pink patent DMs and they keep out the London winter. Moving into spring just now and the April rain here can be fierce, soI'll let you know if they keep that out too.
PRO TIP: Go to ANY sports goods store and buy water proofing spray(look for the kind with bee's wax)
if you have questions, feel free to ask the people working there(they're there to help), follow directions on can.
Nah. I find the spray wears off too quickly. A little effort rubbing some wax in will pay off in terms of how regularly you have to do it.
What the hell do you do with the damn things?!!! I water proofed mine with a silicone/bee wax based spray, and it lasted me the entire rainy season in Alaska, which is the entire god damn summer. Where do you go with yours? But hey, if you wanna get technical, freakin shoe polish will water proof the damn things.
I live in boots, never worn trainers since I was a kid. I run in boots, climb in boots, work in boots, dance in boots. My boots take a pounding.
Well i've got blue docs but the paint is crackin and im afraid it wil chip and peel does that happent o you? any solution
Are they patent, dyed or painted?
i think they were just painted, Im in the process of chipping away all the paint and dying the leather
Then you have your solution right there duck, just keep at that.
