Dreadlocks and Mohawks

I'm thinking of dreading my mohawk, actually I've decided to, but its one of those things where I wont do it myself, and you know I'm not taking my ass to a salon to do it. so I'm left in this middle ground. Its a complicated procedure, but I'm DIY 200 percent.
What have those of you with dreadlocks done?

I never dreaded my real hair, but I have made synthetic dreadlocks and braided them in! They're really pretty easy to make, though I would suggest doing double ended not single. I might the loop at one end (a single) and it was pretty hard to work with outside of being a hairpiece. Youtube has a lot of really good tutorials for it, I was lucky and in cosmetology school so I just had another student braid them in for me haha
